Heidi Becker is native to Western Springs, raised in a creative household. Her grandmother, Joyce Klug, an accomplished artist, demonstrated that being an artist was possible and desirable.
Becker did not fully step into adult art life until summer of 2017, when both her children were away at camp for the first time. Having studied painting with a focus on color theory, she worked on what would become her signature style. Intuitive mark making combined with bold and beautiful color schemes, in the style of abstract expressionism.
A leap of faith and an eye towards a new life, Heidi rented her studio located in uptown Western Springs in February 2018. Working creatively every day, teaching art and making art, the road would rise to meet her with commercial success. Becker has artwork in hundreds of homes in the Chicago area and beyond. She is also part of the permanent collection in both Hinsdale and LaGrange hospitals, in the physicians’ lounges.
