Bouncing Ideas is about being brave to share ideas and expanding thoughts beyond one's own experience to create connections with others. In these expressionistic paintings, I shift away from the landscapes I typically create to focus on the theme of internal strength and emotions. By incorporating contrasting elements—both soft and bold—to represent what we reveal of our true selves.
Karyn finds inspiration in both the vibrant landscapes from her time in California and the gritty scenery she saw while commuting on the Metra to Chicago. For her, the horizon symbolizes a dream within, expressed through bright, vivid colors. Her marks and brush strokes represent the bold, messy leaps we take towards our goals, while the color blocks capture those quiet moments of contentment along the way.
